A Better Way: Our Vision for a Confident America

Last fall, we came together and made the decision that it was time to go from being an opposition party to being a proposition party. We dedicated ourselves to looking at the problems facing our constituents and the country and coming up with principled solutions.

And we did this not just to check the box. We knew that we had to go bold. The challenges facing our country are just too great.

We also knew that we would not do this top-down. So we took a bottom-up approach. We got input and ideas from all around the country. Every member of the House Republican conference participated in this after consulting with their constituents.

At: www.better.gop there are hundreds of ideas to tackle our country’s biggest problems.

Now these ideas work in a pretty simple way. We take our timeless principles—liberty, freedom, free enterprise, self-determination, government by consent—and apply them to the problems of the day, and we offer people solutions that help improve their lives. That’s what good government is. That’s what this is all about.

Now, what are we offering here? We are offering a better way to get people out of poverty. We’re offering a better way to transition people from welfare to work so they can reach their potential and we can enjoy their talents.

We offer a better way to secure our homeland, to produce national security. ISIS is on the rise—we offer a better way to go on the offense. We offer a better way on how to secure our border. We offer a better way to give us the kind of military we need to do the job that we ask of our brave men and women serving in our military.

We offer a better way for smart regulations so that businesses can have the certainty to go out and take risks to reach, to go higher, to pay people more, to create jobs.

We offer a better way to get our government back. We offer a better way to make sure the laws we live under in this country are actually written by the people we vote for in this country - not by this unelected branch of government, the bureaucracy. If we lose self-government and self-determination, we lose what makes America special. We lose self-determination.

We offer a better way for patient-centered health care. Let people make their decisions in health care. Let patients and their doctors make the decisions on what health care is best for them and their families. People are getting sick and tired of double-digit premium increases. People are getting sick and tired of these huge deductible increases. Obamacare is failing. It’s collapsing under its own weight. It’s going to end up rationing Medicare. It’s going to end up denying choices. And it’s making it harder for families to afford basic health care. We’re offering a better way.

This tax code has got to go. This IRS is too intrusive. We are offering a better way to clean up our tax code to get America in the lead economically and to create faster economic growth, more jobs, and more upward mobility.

Our job in these jobs is to look at the problems facing this country and offer solutions. That’s what we are doing. Seven out of 10 Americans do not think America is headed in the right direction. We agree. But rather than simply complain—rather than simply just throw bombs—we are offering solutions.

We are offering a better way. Because we believe by engaging with our fellow citizens on these solutions and these ideas, we can have the kind of inclusive, aspirational discussion we need to have in this country to earn ourselves a mandate to put these solutions in place and fix our country’s pressing problems. That is why we are here, and that is why we are offering a better way.
